And the coolest stationery award goes to… CNA

The Sandton Convention Centre was abuzz on Thursday 13th June, where the 15th Sunday Times Generation Next Awards were held to recognise some of South Africa’s coolest brands as voted for by the youth of South Africa.

CNA is proud to announce that they won the award for the Coolest Stationery Store for the second consecutive year. CNA Marketing Executive at The Edcon Group, Sudesh Bhageloo, expressed his joy stating “We at CNA feel that we have a great brand, but to have the youth of South Africa co-sign feels amazing! This award really showcases how we as CNA have remained relevant with the youth through tactical initiatives that we have implemented, that speak to this market specifically”.  The moment is a proud one for CNA as they were up against six other brands when it emerged victorious.

About Generation Next

It’s been 15 years since The Generation Next Awards were launched, and the definition of cool has changed drastically since then. To give you a quick flashback, 2004 was the year that Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook while studying at Harvard.  Because the definition of cool has evolved so much, Sunday Times introduced new categories that touched on gaming, online shopping, video-streaming platforms and disruptive marketing.

The awards are based on a survey, conducted by HDI Youth Consultancy, which polled more than 7 000 South African youths between the ages of eight and twenty three, on what was on-trend and aspirational. “The Sunday Times Gen Next survey is considered the leading barometer of youth sentiment in South Africa, and organisations are increasingly guided by the results in driving their youth marketing strategies forward,” said Reardon Sanderson, GM group sales and marketing at the Tiso Blackstar Group. “

With the need to become more visible and reach more young customers, the digital marketing of tomorrow offers improvements in emerging technologies as the youth demand a more integrated experience.

The Youth Marketing Conference, Interactive Showcase, and Awards Ceremony is charged with lots of energy, great insight, and loads of inspiration for effective youth engagement strategies. The event is for brand, marketing, media and advertising professionals in the youth marketing space who hope to better understand consumption habits, trends, and much more.
